Habitat for Humanity

GPC works with Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity

The Habitat for Humanity is an international faith-based organization that provides affordable housing for low-income families. Habitat’s mission derives from the concept of the “theology of the hammer”, the idea that we can bridge theological differences by putting love into action. Everyone can use the hammer as an instrument to manifest God's love. To that end, new homes are built and older homes remodeled using volunteer labor from the community and at least 200 hours of labor from each family. Material, property, and equipment is either donated or provided at a very low cost, and money is solicited from businesses, churches, individuals or from the Habitat Resale Store. Habitat has made decent, affordable housing a reality for more than 200,000 families worldwide.

GPC supports the Habitat for Humanity through a yearly donation and volunteers who work on a home twice a year. These pictures depict some of our members working hard on homes in Burtonsville.

For additional information please go to Habitat’s website at: www.habitat-mc.org or contact Jerry Cleaver at 301-977-3685.
