Summer Packet - Letter to Parents
|
Sammy Mills is here for the summer! I have been working with this youth program for four years now and I am very excited to continue my experience as a summer intern. I am a Junior at Montgomery College with dreams of a youth ministry degree from Eastern University in Pennsylvania. Justin and I have got quite a few new and exciting ideas for the summer and we can’t wait to share them with you throughout the summer. We’ll all be learning about ourselves and our community . I know that with our planning and with your participation we can make this summer unforgettable

Greetings all,
My name is Justin Braun and I will be interning here at GPC for the summer. I am excited to be a part of what God is doing here in the Gaithersburg area through GPC. In the fall I will be returning for my senior tour at West Virginia University. I am working towards an undergrad degree in Religious Studies with a minor in History. In the future I hope to one day double as a professor at the college level and a pastor. Future plans aside, I am pumped for the situation God has called me to right now, which just happens to be GPC and you. The summer is going to be packed with superawefantasterrifnarlysweet (I make up my own words) stuff. Don’t be afraid to contact me so we can hang out.

Sunday morning IMPACT
|
Who: Gaithersburg Middle school students
What: A Sunday Ministry geared toward middle schoolers.
When: 11 o’clock
Where: Downstairs in Spencer Hall
Why: To explore and deepen your relationship with God
In Impact we will sing, play games, fellowship and learn more about ourselves and each other. This summer, Sundays are going to be exciting days and we cant wait to see you there!!!

Unity Nights Transportation
|
To Parents: We will be offering transportation from GPC at 6 PM for every Unity Night for those who live nowhere near the even locations. If you live close to the address of an of the weekly locations, please drop off and pick up your kid(s) there. If it is an inconvenience for you to drive all over the countryside, feel free to drop your kid(s) off at the church. We ask that you call one of the Interns by 5:30 to let them know so that we are sure we have enough space for your child.

Unity Nights
|
Hey Unity Members and guests and everyone is welcome!
Come out Tuesday nights during the summer to swim with your favorite interns and to learn about God!
We will meet in area homes. See the online calendar for homes. Addresses are available in GPC directories. If you have questions or need directions, call the office or Interns.

What: Weekly evening meetings just for 6th graders. We’ll vary our activites at Boehrer Park from week to week, hang out together, and learn about God! These are in addition to the weekly Unity Nite meetings, which 6th graders are also invited to attend.
When: Sundays, 5:00-6:30 p.m. (June 22, July 13, 20, 27 and August 3rd)
Where: Boehrer Park Rec. Center. If rain, meet at GPC.
Who: ONLY 6th GRADERS
What to bring: $5 for swimming, putt-putt, etc. Swimsuit/towel if swimming.

KOA Camping, June 20 - 21
|
Hey Unity! We are going camping at the
Kampgrounds Of America in Millersville, MD.
There we will swim in the pool, play ping pong, table pool, and sing songs around the fire.
This trip is sure to be lots of fun so don't miss out!!
*Only 10 spots Youth Spots*
Time:10:00 AM the 20th– 2:00 pm the 21st

Unity Movie Night
|
We will be having a Unity Movie Night at GPC on July 14th.
Bring some snacks and a blanket because we are doing this drive-in style! If it rains, we will of course move inside to the youth room.
Meet: July 14th @8:30 p.m.(the movie will begin at dusk)

GREAT ESCAPE!
|
Come with GPC to the Great Escape for the adventure of a lifetime. It will be the best thing you do this summer.
Date: June 29th– July 3rd
Meet at GPC at 6:00 A.M. on Sunday, June 29th.
Return Thursday, July 3rd around 8:00 P.M.
More information will become available to those who are signed up via a letter and a meeting previous to the event.

ServeFest
|
Come join us for 48 hours of transforming service to Gaithersburg and the surrounding communities.
We will also be showing the love of God to those who need it the most.
This is a great opportunity to make great friends in a unique environment.
Date: July 28-29
Time: 8 AM on July 28th – 9 PM on July 29th

Beach Day
|
We are going to take a trip to Ocean City, Maryland, on July 24, 2008. This trip is for both Unity and Infinity groups.
Leaving GPC: 7:00 am
Returning: 10:00 pm
Bring: Money. Camera. Change of Clothes. TOWEL. Anything else you will need for a day at the Beach. Spending $ (at least $20 in cash)
Sign up by: July 18, 2008
Cost: $6 & spending money (at least $20 in cash)

King’s Dominion
|
We are going to King’s Dominion on August 4, 2008. The cost of the trip is $35 (Wow! that’s cheap!) plus $20 for food and extra cash for other expenses.
Sign up by July 23rd.
Time: Leaving GPC @ 7:00 am, August 4, 2008 and returning at Midnight.
Bring:
1. MONEY for spending in addition to the $20 2. Swimming trunks or swimming suit and a towel.
3. Change of clothes.

We will be at Kings Dominion all day, so be prepared to spend the whole day there.

The last Unity night of the summer will be on August 6th. We will be joining the High School kids for a fiesta.

I'm Jenna Vinci. You may remember me from last year!!! I'm very excited and blessed to be back spending another phenomenal and unforgettable summer with you! It's going to be amazing!
As some of you know, I'm an Eastern University "super-senior" and I just moved from King of Prussia, PA, to sunny Myrtle Beach, SC, to be with my family; however, I'm still a Jersey girl at heart.

Infinity Nights Transportation, upon request
|
For those who may have difficulty driving their kids to and from Infinity nights, take a look at the first permission slip in the packet. After signing and returning this form, we (the Interns) and Ed Travis will be able to pick up your kids from GPC between 6:15 and 6:30 pm and return to the church at 9:30 pm on Wednesdays for Infinity. Kids MUST be at the church between 6:15 and 6:30 pm so we can get to Infinity on time! Please don't be late!
Also, be sure to call to inform us that your kid will need a ride with us by 5 pm that Wednesday because rides will be limited!

This summer we will have 3 movie nights in June! On Mondays, June 15th, 23rd and 30th, we will be in Spencer Hall, gathered from 6 - 9 pm along with some snacks for a great time of fellowship and entertainment! (Movies PG-13 and under)

Travel by vans to Philadelphia for a fun-filled week long, Christ-centered, life-changing youth missions trip.
Make sure to fit everything in your ONE duffel bag.
The permission slips, health forms and forms specific to Youth Works will be mailed to the registered students at a later date.
