The Marketplace   -   Sample the wares of the people of Ancient Corinth



A marketplace is a location where goods and services are exchanged. The traditional market square is a city square where traders set up stalls and buyers browse the merchandise. This kind of market is very old, and countless such markets are still in operation around the whole world.



Priscilla and Aquila's house  - experience life in a middle-class Greek home with these friends of Paul.
According to Acts 18:2-3, Aquila and Priscilla were tentmakers, as Paul of Tarsus is said to have been.  Worship and meeting among the early Christians who were not Jewish took place in homes. 

Tentmaking and ropemaking - learn basic knot techniques
Tentmaking, can refer to a method of international Christian evangelism in which missionaries support themselves through external work, instead of receiving financial support from a church.  However, Paul, Priscilla and Aquila did support themselves as tentmakers and leather crafters.


    Food of Ancient Greece - sample some food found in Ancient Greece
 


 Along the coastline, the soil was not very fertile but the ancient Greeks used systems of  irrigation and crop rotation to help solve that problem.  The grew olives, grapes and figs.  They kept goats for milk and cheese.

Isthmian Games - participate in the games

One of the Panhellenic games held in Corinth every two years.  The winners received a wreath of pine.

 
Weaving   - Learn simple weaving techniques
Weaving was an important tradition for women in ancient Greece.  It was an occupation of the ladies of the highest status.

As a major city of antiquity, located on the isthmus between mainland Greece and the Peloponnesus, it was founded by Greeks in the tenth century B.C. 


    Pottery   - enjoy making some pottery

Greece had ample supply of fine clay and had developed the pottery wheel about 2500 BC.  It was used for home use as well as funerary and trade with others.

Story Telling - Listen to some stories about the life of Paul and his followers.
In the early church, stories of Jesus and his life were the center of their worship service.  These stories changed the hearts and minds of many and converted them to Christianity.

Grains and Herbs workshop - Learn about ancient grains and herbs
Grain in mentioned in the Bible over 200 times!  By grain, the Bible usually means barley and wheat.  Herbs, were used for healing in Bible times and today.
