Welcome to Adult Ed at GPC!
One of the three pillars of GPC’s mission is to educate and equip each generation for Christian discipleship. The Adult Education program affords an opportunity to deepen your knowledge and meet new friends as we discuss, share, and educate one another in a small group atmosphere.
The program is a 4-part series of core, educational curriculum, designed by GPC for our diverse community of faith:
Life in Christ
An interactive exploration of what it means to follow Jesus. This small-group-oriented course in the basics of discipleship is for current GPC members and those considering becoming members of our congregation.
Life in the Body
Continuing the small group discussions, focusing on coming together for fellowship, study, prayer and share time, and building relationships in our local and global community.
Life in the Spirit
Identifying our spiritual gifts, learning how God is calling us to implement those gifts as adults, and discussing God’s purpose and plan for each of us.
Life in the Word
An introduction to the Bible, Bible study, and the role it has in our everyday life as modern disciples.
In addition to the core curriculum, other ongoing courses are available:
- Christian Classics: “Selected Writings of Thomas Aquinas”
- The Bible as a Whole: “Acts”
- The Present Word: “Covenant with God”
- Sermon Topic Discussion
- The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything: A Spirituality for Real Life by James Martin SJ
- Playing for Keeps by Reggie Joiner, Kristen Ivy, and Elizabeth Hansen
Short-term courses supplement the ongoing courses. Recent topics have included Christian Parenting, The Joys and Challenges of Aging, and The Five Love Languages.
